If you work in the world of digital media and create online content then you have heard of the rise in popularity of the artificial intelligence-based chatbot known as ChatGPT. For those of you that don't have a clue what ChatGPT is, it is an AI that has been trained to interact with users in a natural, conversational way. ChatGPT can learn to generate responses to users questions without being told what the correct answer is. Many schools and universities have already started campaigning to try and ban access to these chatbots for students over concerns of 'cheating' with essays.
How will ChatGPT affect content creators, authors and people who write for a living?
Many people online have been testing the capabilities of the AI machine by asking it to produce pieces of work and are shocked by the responses. ChatGPT did a good job of presenting pros and cons and was honest in its answers that it lacks emotional intelligence but it missed of failing to sound like a real human. Content creators needn't worry. Human crafted copy conveys feelings, empathy and emotions that an AI chatbot does not do well and can be spotted if you look hard enough. You may have come across blog posts and articles on the internet and wondered why they sound robotic - that's because of ai generated writing like this!
