ChatGPT - Should Content Writers Be Worried?

ChatGPT is it an openAI chatbot that has been trained to interact with users in a natural, conversational way.

If you work in the world of digital media and create online content then you have heard of the rise in popularity of the artificial intelligence-based chatbot known as ChatGPT. For those of you that don't have a clue what ChatGPT is, it is an AI that has been trained to interact with users in a natural, conversational way. ChatGPT can learn to generate responses to users questions without being told what the correct answer is. Many schools and universities have already started campaigning to try and ban access to these chatbots for students over concerns of 'cheating' with essays.

How will ChatGPT affect content creators, authors and people who write for a living?

Many people online have been testing the capabilities of the AI machine by asking it to produce pieces of work and are shocked by the responses. Henry Williams, a freelance writer from London wrote an article for The Guardian 'I’m a copywriter. I’m pretty sure artificial intelligence is going to take my job' in which he asked the AI bot to write a version of his published article. He was horrified that in 30 secs it had wrote what took him hours to write. It wrote:

As a copywriter, I’ve spent years honing my craft and perfecting my ability to craft compelling and persuasive copy. But now, it seems that my job is at risk of being taken over by ChatGPT, a large language model trained by OpenAI.

A Twitter user Riley Goodside tweeted 'POV: You're a Senior Data Engineer at Twitter. Elon asks what you've done this week. You've done nothing and, Frantically, you open ChatGPT.'

We decided to put ChatGPT to the test and asked it 'write me a blog post about chat gpt and its pros and cons'

ChatGPT is a cutting-edge language model developed by OpenAI that is designed to engage in natural language conversations with humans. This model has been trained on a vast amount of text data and can generate responses to user queries in a natural and human-like manner. While ChatGPT has several advantages, it also has some limitations that need to be considered.

Pros:

Natural Language Processing: ChatGPT is an advanced language model that is designed to process and understand natural language. It can understand the context of the conversation and generate accurate and relevant responses to user queries.

Customization: ChatGPT can be customized to suit the needs of different businesses and organizations. This allows businesses to create chatbots that can engage with customers in a personalized and relevant manner.

Scalability: ChatGPT can handle a large number of user requests simultaneously. This makes it an ideal solution for businesses that need to handle a high volume of customer queries.

Cost-effective: ChatGPT can help businesses reduce their customer service costs by automating routine tasks. This frees up customer service representatives to handle more complex queries, which can improve customer satisfaction.

Cons:

Lack of Emotional Intelligence: While ChatGPT is designed to respond to user queries in a natural and human-like manner, it does not have emotional intelligence. This means that it may not be able to understand the emotions behind user queries, which can result in inappropriate responses.

Limited Domain Knowledge: ChatGPT's responses are based on the text data it has been trained on. This means that it may not have the domain knowledge required to answer complex queries outside its training data.

Vulnerability to Bias: ChatGPT's responses are based on the training data it has been exposed to. This means that it may be vulnerable to bias and may generate responses that perpetuate stereotypes and biases.

Privacy Concerns: ChatGPT requires access to large amounts of user data to improve its accuracy. This can raise privacy concerns for users who may not be comfortable sharing their personal information with a chatbot.

In conclusion, ChatGPT is an advanced language model that has several advantages, including natural language processing, customization, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. However, it also has limitations, including the lack of emotional intelligence, limited domain knowledge, vulnerability to bias, and privacy concerns. Despite its limitations, ChatGPT is a valuable tool that can help businesses improve their customer service and engage with customers in a more personalized and relevant manner.

As you can see, it did a fairly good job!

ChatGPT did a good job of presenting pros and cons and was honest in its answers that it lacks emotional intelligence but it missed of failing to sound like a real human. Content creators needn't worry. Human crafted copy conveys feelings, empathy and emotions that an AI chatbot does not do well and can be spotted if you look hard enough. You may have come across blog posts and articles on the internet and wondered why they sound robotic - that's because of ai generated writing like this!

The future of AI generated content

AI is here to stay and is revolutionising the world of content writing. Gone will be the days of struggling with writer's block or spending countless hours on research. AI-powered content writers can quickly analyse vast amounts of data, extract relevant information, and generate insightful articles, blog posts, social media content, and more but at what cost to us humans?
