Every month there is always an influx of new trends and news surrounding social media and marketing, and it can be hard to keep on top of and know what actually happened during the month. Here is a round up of what's been trending and news you should know about...
News You Should Know About
Going viral is cringe! That's right, going viral is now being seen as cringe and off-putting to consumers. Seeing a brand try hard and constantly shove and push a product and calling it "viral", is now one of the worst things you could be doing as a brand because it comes across as desperate. Consumers are a lot more sceptical and a lot smarter and can easily recognise when a brand is trying too hard. What was once the key to social media could now be the reason your product isn't selling.
Authenticity is now the key.
Marketing strategies like CTA's (Call To Action's) are now very off-putting and annoying to individuals who are seeing them, and the same goes for email marketing - sending daily emails and constantly throwing products and services at people will put them off because it's more like noise than value. Let your customers come naturally.
Building a community isn't an option when it comes to marketing now, its vital that you're engaging with your audience. Consumers know when they are being sold to and know when they are just another person on a list being marketed to. Showing your consumers you value them and don't just see them as a number on a list creates that valued connection between you and your buyers. When you begin doing this, the engagement will come on it's own.
LinkedIn is having it's time in the spotlight and is the new cool and trending social media platform. With it's platform turning from a job finding and networking platform to a now relevant and engaging platform to help with brand awareness. Brands are now thriving on LinkedIn, showing that they are authentic and fun. LinkedIn is where it's all happening, showing you can be a professional and still have fun and be engaging on social media.
Trending content
Starting off with video content - video content remains strong and powerful when it comes to posting short-form videos, showing a quick and engaging video is something which you will never go wrong with. This month, stop motion videos have also become trendy! These are great for showing off new products or even a quick 'What's In My Bag'.

Food marketing on social media has been huge, with big brands such as Rhode, Skims, J.Crew and Jaquemus participating in this. This particular kind of marketing makes the consumer see the product irresistible like the food they are placed with, almost making the consumer 'hungry' for the product rather than the food in the image.
