Marketing is changing again… so here’s the honest version

I’ll get straight to it. Marketing is changing. Again.

And this time it’s not just another shiny trend we can all ignore.

AI has properly arrived, Google is doing Google things, social media has decided it wants to be “real” now, and ads are getting smarter and more opinionated.

So rather than pretend everything is fine and carry on as normal, I wanted to pop into your inbox with the honest version of what we’re seeing and what actually matters.

MARketing Myth one: AI is replacing people

AI is everywhere right now. But the brands doing well are the ones that sound human, know their stuff, and explain things clearly. Helpful content wins. Generic waffle does not. If your website or socials don’t really say much, AI won’t save it.

MARketing Myth two: SEO is dead

Sorry, it’s not. SEO has evolved. Google wants clear answers, real expertise, and websites that are actually looked after. If your site is helpful, up to date, and makes sense to real people, you’re still very much in the game.

MARketing Myth three: Social media needs to be perfect

It really doesn’t. Over polished content is tiring everyone out. What’s working is real faces, real stories, behind the scenes moments, and content that actually gives something back. You don’t need to dance. You do need to sound like you.

MARketing Myth four: Google Ads are set and forget

Ads are clever now, but they’re also a bit needy. When the foundations are right, they can work brilliantly. When they’re rushed or messy, budgets disappear quickly. Strategy matters more than ever.

So what should you actually do?

You don’t need to be everywhere. You don’t need to jump on every trend. You do need clarity, consistency, and marketing that works together instead of fighting itself.

That’s exactly what we’re focusing on this year. Less noise. More impact. Smarter decisions.

If you’re reading this and thinking “I’m not actually sure if what we’re doing is right”, you’re not alone. If a quick, no pressure chat would help you sense check things, my inbox is always open, gemma@buildabrand.org.uk

More myth busting soon.
