When Should You Rebrand Your Business?

A rebrand can be SO exciting!

New logo. New colours. New website. New everything.

But how do you know when your business actually needs one?

A rebrand shouldn't happen just because you're bored of looking at your logo. It should have a reason behind it.

  1. Your business has changed

Perhaps you started out offering one service and now offer five.

Or maybe your business has grown from a one-person operation into a team.

If your branding still reflects where you were five years ago, it might not represent where you are today.

Your brand should grow with your business.

  1. You're attracting the wrong customers

Your branding communicates a lot before someone has even read a word.

If you're trying to position yourself as a premium service but your branding looks rushed or inconsistent, there could be a disconnect.

Equally, if you're a fun, approachable business but your branding feels overly corporate, you might not be speaking to the people you actually want to attract.

  1. Your brand isn't consistent

Does your website look completely different from your social media?

Are you using five different shades of your brand colour?

Does every designer create something slightly different?

Consistency makes a brand easier to recognise and can make your business feel much more professional.

You don't have to start from scratch

This is an important one.

A re-brand doesn't always mean throwing everything away… sometimes you just need a refresh rather than a complete reinvention!

You might keep the parts of your brand that already work and update your colours, typography, imagery, messaging or overall visual style.

The best re-brands don't just look good, they make more sense.

Before changing anything, ask yourself:

  • Who are we now?

  • Who are we trying to attract?

  • What do we want to be known for?

  • Does our current brand communicate that?

If the answers don't match, it might be time for a change.

Your branding should represent the business you're building, NOT the business you started five years ago!
