Your Website Is Working 24/7… But Is It Doing Its Job?

Your website is often the first place someone goes when they discover your business.
They might find you through Google, social media, a recommendation or an advert.. and then they'll probably check out your website before deciding whether to get in touch.
So the question isn't simply "Do I have a website?"
It's: "Is my website actually helping me win business?"
Can people understand what you do?
You have a few seconds to make a good first impression.
Someone landing on your homepage shouldn't have to work out what your business does.
Make it obvious.
Who are you?
What do you offer?
Who do you help?
What should someone do next?
If these aren't clear, people may simply leave.
Is it easy to navigate?
A beautiful website isn't much use if nobody can find what they're looking for.
Keep your navigation simple and make important information easy to find.
Think about the questions your customers ask most often and make sure the answers are easy to access.
Does it work on mobile?
Your customers aren't necessarily sitting at a desktop computer.
They're checking your website on their phone while they're waiting for the kettle to boil, sitting on the sofa or scrolling through social media.
Your website needs to look good and work properly on smaller screens too.
Is there a clear next step?
Don't make people guess what to do.
Want them to call you? Make your number easy to find.
Want enquiries? Include a clear contact form.
Want people to book? Make the booking button obvious.
A good website doesn't just provide information.
It guides people towards taking action!
When was the last time you looked at your own website?
Not as the business owner, but as a potential customer.
Try searching for your business, landing on your homepage and pretending you've never heard of yourself before.
Can you immediately understand what you do?
Can you find what you need?
Does the website feel trustworthy?
Would you get in touch?
If you're hesitating over any of those answers, your website might need a little attention.
Your website doesn't need to be complicated, it just needs to work for your customers and for your business!
